The European Open, born in Tampere, Finland, is not just a disc golf tournament; it is the pinnacle of European disc golf. From its inception in 2006, it has been designated a Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) Major. In 2023, the European Open team was awarded the 2025 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships. This required the PDGA to host its 2025 European Major outside of Finland for the first time since 2018, and opened the door for Europe’s premier event to be hosted at new sites throughout the continent

We believe in growth, evolution, and reinvention. To truly represent Europe, the European Open must be allowed to rotate beyond Finland. After much consideration and in partnership with the PDGA, we’re proud to share that the European Open name will live on as the official title for the rotating PDGA European Major, regardless of which Local Organizing Committee secures the bid to host the event. Led by the PDGA’s transparent bidding process, we are confident that there will be many more high-quality events under the European Open name in cities throughout Europe. While Nokia will always be the original home of the European Open, the future means broadening horizons.

Finally, we are excited to support the Estonian team as they bring their expertise and energy to the first-ever European Open outside Finland. We don’t just embrace change—we drive it. Together with the PDGA, we’re ready to reinvent what the European Open means for the next generation.

Let’s keep pushing the game forward.

The 2026 European Open will be held in Tallinn, Estonia. Check the PDGA announcement for more info on the 2026 European Open.
