On the FPO side, Kristin Tattar started the European Open brilliantly at the Tampere Disc Golf Center (The Monster). Tattar played an almost flawless opening round and achieved a total score of -9.
“The round went really well. On the very first hole, I got to a birdie putt, which gave a good boost to my confidence,” Kristin Tattar commented to Frisbeegolfmedia. “It felt really good and consistent.”
After the first round, Eveliina Salonen is in second place with a score of -5. The leading group is completed by Missy Gannon from the United States (-4) and Silva Saarinen (-3).
Eveliina Salonen played an impressive round, but Tattar’s -9 round score is one of the best of the year in the women’s division. Competitors will have their work cut out for them if they want to challenge the Estonian.
MPO’s opening round of the European Open was accompanied with rainy weather. The first day was dominated by American players – the second round’s video cards will feature only Americans.
Leading the competition after the opening round are Chris Dickerson and Randon Latta, both with a score of -7. Latta is a real surprise at the top – he was able to play his round in dry conditions as he finished before the heavy afternoon rain.
Rounding out the lead card are Andrew Miranda (-6) and Paul McBeth (-5), who is hunting for his sixth European Open victory.
“The Tampere disc golf center suits me very well,” Paul McBeth told Frisbeegolfmedia after his round. “I played really well today. I just made some mistakes on the open fairways. I only managed to play one practice round here, which impacted my game. Tomorrow my goal is to record a score twice as good.”
For the Finns, the opening round went reasonably well. Niklas Anttila, Väinö Mäkelä, and Teemu Talikainen are all at -3. With a good performance, the trio can bring themselves back into contention.
“There were quite a lot of things happening. Initially, the weather was bad, but then I played quite well,” Niklas Anttila commented on his round to Frisbeegolfmedia. “After that, I had grip issues – I couldn’t get a good hold on the disc. Then the last few holes were pretty quiet after that. Nevertheless, I’m in the game.”
The second round will take place on Friday in Tampere Disc Golf Center. The Lead Card tees off at 3:30 PM. Make sure to follow the action here on site or watch it live via Disc Golf Network!
