Qualifying information

Qualification standards

• A current PDGA membership is required of all competitors.
• A passed PDGA officials exam is also mandatory for all players.
• Tournament has two divisions: MPO and FPO.
• Minimum rating for MPO is 970 and for FPO 900. Organizers can give exemptions.
• Tournament field is limited to 144 players.

 

Entry fees
The entry fees for the tournament are 175 EUR (approx. 217 USD) for MPO players and 150 EUR (approx. 186 USD) for FPO players. Entry fee must be paid in the same registration phase that a competitor registers for the tournament. The entry fee information will be emailed to all competitors on the next working day after registration – at the latest. Entry fee payment information is also available here.

 

Registration

Registration will open 6th of February and players are accepted into the tournament with the following criteria:

a) Registration by phases

• The rating at the time of registration is used to determine eligibility.
• Players are eligible to participate in the tournament and register for it as follows:

Phase 1 – Closed

• MPO with rating 970 and higher.
• FPO with rating 900 and higher.

Phase 1 registrants must pay their entry fee by March 25th.

Phase 2 – Closed
Opens February 25th.

• MPO with rating 970 and higher.
• FPO with rating 900 and higher.

Phase 2 registrants must pay their entry fee by March 25th.

Waiting list
• If/when all available spots are occupied a waiting list will be established.
• The spots will be granted to players on the waiting list in rating order.
• If two or more players have the same rating, time of registration is used to determine the order between them.
• The 12 FPO player quota will always be filled first.
• A player will be notified personally via e-mail when he/she is elevated from the waiting list.

 

phases b) Reserved spots

Rating requirements apply to reserved spots unless exemption is mentioned specifically.

 

1. Eligible players (25) Quota released
The top 20 Open division players and top 5 Women’s Open division of the European Masters 2014 have a spot in the European Open 2015.
• These players are exempt from rating requirements.
• These players must register and pay the entry fee by February 25th.

2. US players (20) Quota released
There is a special 20 player quota reserved to US players in European Open. This quota is open until March 25th.

3. FPO players (12)
There is a 12 player quota reserved to FPO players. This quota is open until March 25th.

4. Wild Cards (10)
The tournament organizer will select the ten (10) wild card receivers based on their playing record and/or their contribution to the game. Apply for a wild card.

5. Qualifying tournaments (24) 6 spots issued
24 qualifying spots will be granted to players with the best overall scores in the qualifying tournaments. Four European Open qualifying tournaments will be organized in the spring. In each tournament the top 5 MPO players will receive a spot in the European Open 2015, as well as the winner of the FPO division. More information about the qualifying tournaments.
